A Bouffon Medicine Show
Directed by Jessi Miller & Brian Rott A mysterious pandemic of foreign origin invades the country, striking suddenly, silently and indiscriminately. Those infected are castigated from society, quarantined from the public, disowned by their loved ones, and branded with Buboes! Quasimondo Milwaukee Physical Theatre opens Season 3 with an abomination of creation lancing the Bubonic Plague. This hysterical bouffon show—a more aggressive outbreak of clown performance—treats bodies of the Dark Ages in light of modern medicine. Imbalanced with humor, gallows, jazz, feudalism, and hunchbacks, Buboes is a grotesque examination of anatomy and contagion.
