Red, White, and COUPA Theatrical Work in Progress
Written and Directed by Brian Rott On January 6th, 2021 a violent mob stormed our nation’s Capital in an attempt to halt the transfer of presidential power. The day itself lives on in infamy, but was only the culmination of a coordinated, multi-faceted plot to subvert and overthrow American democracy. And it almost worked.
Quasimondo invites you to discover the truth. Meet the masterminds and co-conspirators behind the attack, follow the actions and events that ushered an insurrection, and witness the shocking fragility of the USA. Assembled from first-hand accounts, memoirs, interviews, transcripts, and Tweets, this original production combines documented evidence with comedy, music, and surrealism, in an intoxicating stew of facts--with a dash of fiction. Seven actors play 54 characters including fumbling politicians, eccentric lawyers, media influencers, iconic rioters, and the courageous few who put patriotism over partisanship. As Milwaukee plays host to the Republican National Convention, and the country prepares for the 2024 presidential election, we invite you to look at the past while keeping an eye on the future, and to reflect on what makes America great. And not so great. WARNING: This production contains mature language and content.
*A Talkback with the cast and production team twill follow each performance.
