Celsius 232Inspired by Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451
Directed by Don Russell and Brian Rott Guy Montag is a public servant who has it all. Almost.
A loving family, a luxury condo, and a fulfilling job with Squadron 232, committed to protecting the public from society's most sinister of threats. Books. When a string of chance encounters ignites a trail of questioning, this humble fire fighter must embark down a dangerous path to discover what's missing. Truth. Inspired by Ray Bradbury's timely dystopian novel, this original adaptation holds a flame to freedom of speech, power of press, and populous prescriptions that pacify and fracture. Created by Quasimondo Physical Theatre and Cooperative Performance, this exciting and wickedly comic production features movement, poetry, puppetry, and a precinct of feverish clowns. The site-specific, benefit performance, is aptly set at the North Milwaukee Arthaus, a historic Milwaukee fire station and soon-to-be center for arts and education. Join us for a riotous ride down the post-truth fire pole; pass through smoke, push through blaze, and dare to dream what will rise from ashes.
*Talkbacks with the cast and production team to follow each performance.
NOTE!: This is a site-specific show, performed at a soon-to-be renovated historic Milwaukee fire station. While the site will be heated, it is drafty, raw and unfinished. Please take this into consideration and dress appropriately.
