Bacchanalia Redux

@ The Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum
Directed by Brian Rott & Jessi Miller

Back by popular demand, Quasimondo Milwaukee Physical Theatre & the Villa Terrace Decoraative Arts Museum  invite you to partake in the revelry of the divine festival honoring Bacchus, the enigmatic god of wine, fertility and ecstasy. Bacchanalia is back!

The gods will rumble on Mount Olympus, Socrates will be executed, the Cyclops will be blinded, nymphs will dance, and Medusa will wriggle-we even perform a satyr play! Bacchanalia combines mythology, religion, ritual, philosophy and the origins of theatrical performance in a cornucopia for the senses.

This immersive theatrical event treats audiences to a "proper Bacchanalia" with an exotic score written and performed by world music artist Bill Webb, three courses of cuisine paired to fit each act, and all you can drink libations. This exciting and cathartic Quasimondo original has something for any pallette.

TRAILER

"This is the sort of thing one could expect to see in London, or Barcelona, but not Milwaukee...Surely the gods have smiled upon Quasimondo."
Jeff Grygny, Milwaukee Theater Examiner

"Bacchanalia" is exploring archetypal questions of the sort that too much situational theater ignores:Why do we vigilantly monitor our primal urges? Why do men fear women? Do we need organized religion? And since we're all going to die, why are we so afraid to live? Or as Bacchus might say, why not eat, drink and be prodigiously merry while we still can?"
MIKE FISCHER, MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL
